A Classic Adhesive with a Timeless Legacy
Pearl glue—also known as hide glue—is one of the oldest and most trusted adhesives in woodworking history. Used for centuries in furniture making, bookbinding, and instrument building, it’s prized for its unique properties: strong initial tack, excellent creep resistance, and the ability to be reactivated with heat and moisture. Pearl glue forms a rigid, natural bond that's fully reversible, making it especially valuable in restoration and conservation work.
About This Product
Our pearl glue is a high-bloom grade animal glue in dry, granulated form, offering a strong, fast-setting bond ideal for precise joinery. Sourced from pure collagen, it contains no additives or fillers—just traditional glue as it's been used for generations. This glue is perfect for musical instrument makers, traditional cabinetmakers, and restorers working with antique or veneered furniture. The high bloom strength ensures excellent rigidity and fast initial grab once cooled.
How to Use
- Soak the pearl glue in cold water for at least 30–60 minutes until fully swollen.
- Heat gently in a glue pot or double boiler to around 60°C (140°F) until fully dissolved.
- Apply warm, and clamp as needed while the glue cools and sets.
- To clean, simply use warm water while still fresh.
